According to a Digg.com story (http://digg.com/apple/Mac_OS_X_10_4_8_Final_BUILD_to_be_Released_in_the_Next_Few_Days), Apple has seeded OS 10.4.8 Build 8L2125 to developers. According to the poster (named "appledev"), no significant issues remain which could indicate a release within days.
The Intel Version weighs in at 206 MB, with the PowerPC Version weighing in at a significantly less 30.8 MB. Previous rumors indicated significant work was being done on Rosetta, which could explain the substantial size difference (although Intel versions have typically been larger, as Mac OS 10.4.7, released in June (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/06/20060627161810.shtml), was 133 MB Intel and 64 MB PPC). Other previous (unconfirmed) rumors have indicated that, among other enhancements and bug fixes (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/08/20060829081002.shtml), OpenGL may have also seen performance improvements (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/09/20060910001852.shtml).

RFID is insecure. The british RFID passports have been cracked within less than 48 hours, the German test ones in less than a day. I wouldn't trust RFID for any important and sensible information like payment services. It's fine for stuff like tracking packages or my skiing card - but that's it.
If it is so insecure, why haven't we heard of all the peoplebeing ripped off where it's used quite extensively?

Exactly, for those folks who think Kodak was just a film company you're totally off base. They had the diversity but not the vision to adjust to the transition and ended up wholesale auctioning their future. Kinda what we're doing as a country right now.
Kodak believed that their "customers" were the drug stores that did the film developing -- and those drug stores hated the idea of digital photography. So instead of focusing on the their real customers (i.e.: those who used their camera and film) they played to the whims of the drug stores and the entire digital revolution passed them by.
Funny though, one of the best cameras we ever had for producing decent photos was the one that used their magnetic film and showed you what the picture you just took looked like on a little LCD screen. If you did not like the picture you could mark it for "do not develop" and then take another. You saved money on developing bad photos this way and you were still using film (albeit a new kind of film). I can still remember the commercial for that camera with the young couple visiting in Italy trying to get different locals to take photos of them in a specific spot so they could make it look just like an old photo they had of one of their parents in the same spot from decades earlier. Each photo that turned out wrong was marked to not be developed and then they would try again until they got the perfect shot. Funny how they did not see that digital photography accomplished the same thing but in a better way. They really missed the boat.

ATT has the fastest 3G network
ATT has GSM, the standard chipset around the globe
Dropped calls and data plan are not the same thing

A developer friend of mine tried to download the previous dev release for my system (iMac G5), but it wouldn't install right for some reason. It would hang on restart. I had to re-install from the CD and re-update everything. Even tried disabling all my hacks and startup items, but it just did it again. I believe it was the combo version (2117 I think). I'm thinking it didn't get download right or something though, because he was able to get it working on his (Intel and PPC), a friend of our's (dual G5 PowerMac), and my Mother's (Intel mini). Hoping the new one works better, but if not, at least I know how to fix it. :rolleyes: When it works though, it's fast. Real fast.

Whichever you have it�s normal for the doctor (I�ll not try to attempt and spell anestithologist <that�s why) to ask you to count down from ten, you won�t make seven before you�re under.
While you�re under you don�t dream, or at least I never have.
Coming round is the weird part as it�s not like waking up from sleep, it�s like when you are so tired you can�t keep your eyes open. You know when you�re sat in front of TV at night and the shopping channel comes on and you�re powerless to even lift the remote but can see the horror in front of you.
You�ll come round from the drugs like this and then drift back off to �normal� sleep ie sleep your body�s decided you need as opposed to drug induced.
Waking from that sleep is fairly normal except you�ll have to deal with the pain of whatever operation you just had. :(

From the video there looks like there is a lot of space between the front and back plates and the metal part....perhaps this is a converted iPhone 4 as this is not present on black ones,,,,a bad conversion at that.......:(

Vegetarians are in general healty. It all depends on what you eat, a vegeratian could eat only fried chips so it would not be healty :-) I'm vegarian and i'm awesome too and sadly i don't get sick even if i want :-( I have many friends who are vegetarian and they are not necessary slim, one of them has some Kg extra.
Last studies finally, after many years of ignorance, state vegans/vegetarians are OFTEN healty. Stop the nosense.

I don't see Apple getting more than 10% marketshare anytime soon unless they do something significant.
I don't know anybody who has switched. I've known a few people who seriously considered it, but when they learned they'd have to spend another $200 for Windows XP so they can run their 'XP Only' things, they settled on a PC.
Price and functionality. That's what drives todays computer market.
Yes, you'll have people buying the Intel iMac.. most of the 'switchers' will do so just because it's a neat looking box. They'll still be using Windows on it.
PC sales are always down on the eve of a new OS release. Nobody wants to buy a new computer with yesterdays OS on it.
The people i've talked with aren't interested in running dual OS's. They aren't interested in having to restart their computer to run this app, then restart again to run that other app.
They just want to sit down and use the computer to do whatever it is they want to do, then get on with life.
And they want to do it without spending a bunch of money.
As long as Micro$oft keeps making Windows, and HP/Compaq/Dell keep making $499 computers, the WinTel platform will be the dominant platform.
If I were Apple, I would have made an AMD powered, or fast single core HT capable Intel Mini and introduced it in the sub $400 price range and sold them right along side the X Boxes and PS2's at WalMart.
Selling such a unit, in such an accessable venue would certianly increase marketshare, and with increased marketshare comes increased software development.. which does nothing add value to their higher end, high margin systems like the iMac and Mac Pro.

Even after that comparison of Apple's products to Windows', I'd still buy Apple.
Don't tell me that I'm wasting my money just because I can easily afford to purchase a Mac. Most of the people that talk crap about Macs are the ones that can't afford them, so of course they're going to talk bad about them.
I like cheap car vs. luxury car analogy. A Kia has four wheels, a windshield, a hood, and a trunk just as Rolls Royce does, but should Kia start a campaign that calls Rolls Royce over priced and a waste of your money? I certainly hope not.
